Summer Class - dates to be announced soon!

Explore traditional and contemporary directions in Book Arts with instruction in Book construction, printmaking, and mixed media techniques. Learn construction and techniques on hinged wooden books, open spine Coptic stitch bindings, and globe circular books. We’ll work on 3 projects during this 6-week class, concentrating on concept and technique.
The hinged wooden book will include metal hinges with color pencil wood panels.  Monotype imagery will be produced in our Printing lab at the school. Coptic stitch bindings are a beautiful addition to the spine of a handmade book. The globe circular book will include mixed media techniques with a touch of old world imagery and the unexpected with a hanging circle structure.

Mixed Media approaches in Watercolors and Acrylics
Starts in Fall according to Pandemic conditions

10 weeks fridays 9 - 12
   For intermediate to advanced painters.

Experimental Watermedia approaches will be explored with watercolor and acrylic with a focus on composition, negative painting, and textures in still life, landscape, and figurative works.   Build up layers with translucent hues and simple printmaking techniques.
Metaphors and messages can play a thoughtful role in your works with added bits of collage and text. Be prepared to loosen up and experiment with different resists and textures to build up the surfaces, paint translucent layers, and create extraordinary shapes.
